What is Workflow automation?
Workflow automation connects the tools a business already uses so that data moves between them without manual copying. A trigger in one system, such as a new order, a signed contract or a form submission, sets off a chain of steps in others: create the invoice, update the CRM, notify the team.

Where AI fits into a workflow
Most steps in a workflow are deterministic and should stay that way. AI is added at the points where a person used to read and judge: extracting fields from a PDF, classifying an email, drafting a reply. The rest is plumbing.
Platforms such as Make, n8n and Zapier cover the plumbing for common tools. Custom code takes over when volume, security or an unusual system demands it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to replace my current tools?
Almost never. Workflow automation works with what you have. Replacing a tool is a separate decision, usually made later and for other reasons.
